Your Latest All Eyes DB Camp News
We are in that time of year when athletes focus on developing their bodies for the next season.
Champions are indeed built in the offseason. With that in mind, improving your strength, speed, and agility is a must as you prepare for the fall.
However, all the strength and speed in the world won’t be fully utilized if the brain isn’t developed as well.
If I gave you a car with no headlights and told you to speed down a dark road, you would struggle to do it. It wouldn’t matter if you were in a Hellcat or a Porsche—driving 120 mph into an unknown, pitch-black path would feel impossible (unless you’re a little crazy).
Similarly, a well-developed body is like a high-performance engine. But lacking football IQ is like driving without headlights—you won’t play fast, and you’ll struggle to have true strength through confidence.
Few All-Americans lack football intelligence. Most have a deep understanding of the game. Some may not let on that they have it, but when the games start, they know exactly where to be. Those are the guys truly playing at 100 mph.
How much light is on the path in front of you? If you want to have a great upcoming season, brighten your headlights by learning as much as possible about the position you play.
P.S. – Your lights can never be too bright.

Byron Murphy
The 2025 NFL free agency period is set to begin on March 12, with several top cornerbacks hitting the market:
D.J. Reed (Jets): Considered the top free agent cornerback available. He's coming off his sixth straight season with a 70.0+ PFF overall grade and excelled in coverage metrics.
Charvarius Ward (49ers): Despite struggling in 2024, Ward's overall body of work makes him a top option. His teammate Deommodore Lenoir received an in-season extension, suggesting Ward may leave San Francisco.
Byron Murphy Jr. (Vikings): Coming off a Pro Bowl season with career highs in interceptions (6) and passes defensed (14).
Coach’s Corner

30 Jet Mike Shoot Tango
If you’re having trouble with slot WRs but have solid outside corners, Tango coverage might be for you. It also has some great adjustments for Trips formation as well as condensed sets. I talk about this coverage nad more in the All Eyes DB Camp Member’s Area.
DB Tip
Keeping contact with the ground is key for a defensive back. Picking your heels up high in your back pedal or jumping both feet in your shuffle is a no-no. You never want to get caught with both feet off of the ground when the WR changes direction.

DB Fact

The fastest recorded 40-yard dash time by a defensive back at the NFL Combine is 4.23 seconds, set by Stanford Routt in 2005 and duplicated by Kalon Barnes (pictured) at the 2022 NFL Combine
