5 Reasons Cornerbacks Need to Tackle
Increased Offensive Creativity: Modern offenses frequently utilize screens and quick passes, requiring cornerbacks to tackle effectively.
Targeted as a Weakness: Cornerbacks who can’t tackle become targets, as offenses exploit this by adjusting play strategies.
Limited Defensive Coverage: Poor tackling limits the routes cornerbacks can effectively cover, often removing them from preferred plays.
Team Liability: Non-tackling cornerbacks can become liabilities, risking their playing time.
Improvement Necessary: To maximize impact, cornerbacks should improve tackling skills for better defensive flexibility.
