Now, here’s your DB Tip:
Getting a quick break out of your back pedal can be the difference between you running down the sidelines with a pick 6 or tackling a wide receiver after he has made the catch to secure a first down conversion for his team.
If you want to be the guy with the pick 6, use these 3 tips to get out of your back pedal lightning quick:
✅ Plant Under Your Center of Gravity
The power in your breaks is found under your hips. Keeping your footwork under your hips is a surefire way to drive your energy into the ground and have it return back through your body to propel you forward. It also prevents you from slipping.
✅ Snap Your Eyes to Your Target
I tell the guys in person and in my Member’s Area all the time, you will run to what you’re looking at. As soon as you drop your foot to break, your eyes should go to the target (wide receiver). This starts everything in your body towards him. Don’t look at the ground!
✅ Keep Your Chest Down in Your Drive
Once you plant your feet and set your eyes, you are now a sprinter coming out of the blocks. No champion sprinter raises his chest when he drives out of the blocks. Keep your chest down as you drive towards the target.
Make these 3 things a habit and watch how you swoope in on more throws made by the QB during competition. Drop me a line and let me know how it goes.
P.S. Don’t forget about the Member’s Area. It is going to turn you into the player that you have always wanted to be. Member’s are seeing their level of play rise through the roof.
Best,
Coach Wilson
